So how does one keep up the illusion and put down the despair?

It's so hard to be fiscally responsible. It'd actually easier to keep up working 2 jobs if I were making progress on my model railroad... even if I were turning around and paying someone else to build it! And I really hoped we'd get further with AFS in the just over 2 years we had, but instead it's been a lot of trivialities, a lot of trying to keep up with every damn Linux vendor needing to be special, and not nearly enough moving toward where we need to be, the kerberos 5, the IPv6...

I don't know if this is the life I want in 5 years, or even next year. I guess I should just worry about this year, and go from there.
