And the power's out in the heart of man

Lately for whatever reason I'm tempted heavily by live music, to the point where I'd be willing to go hundreds of miles to see things. That's not especially unusual for me, I guess, but it's also prompted a lot of thought as to who I don't want to miss.

  • Arcade Fire

  • Cracker

  • David Bowie

  • Green Day

  • Living Things

  • Modest Mouse

  • Weezer

  • White Stripes

There are a couple other acts which I'm also sort of leaning towards but I think these are must sees for their next tours or even if they're just playing one date somewhere in this half of the country, perhaps cause for a road trip. And then there are the acts that if they ever reunite I will be all over like flies on excrement.

Hm. Foo Fighters in Stockholm on February 6.... And it might be nice to see Jimmy Eat World, but I think Australia is right out for now.

Recently I've been talking with my friends more about music, though in most cases it's just talk about things I already knew about which I'm discovering other people also enjoy. I've in general had a difficult time (or maybe it just seems that way to me) discovering music which is new (to me) and interesting. So, perhaps I should also ask "yinz" to recommend things to me that I might not have heard before, or perhaps didn't appreciate the first time around.

Incidentally, the Zales commercial for diamond earrings with the Bowie/Mercury collaboration "Under Pressure" always flips me out for a moment until I remember they're making a crack about how diamonds are formed. Oh yeah, and White Stripes on Conan? Kicked posterior.
