Messing with the flavor oh the flavor that you savor

A lot happens in 9 years. Nearly 9 years ago, the first annual ACAP conference was in Pittsburgh. I was there. In the intervening time, ACAP has died as a protocol, and I got drawn closer in to the world it was intended for (mail software) before falling away when I changed jobs last year.

But the notable thing (in my mind, ts4z might disagree, if he even remembers) about that event was going off for dinner with Chris Newman one night to the Himalayan-Tibetan place in Oakland one night. I didn't appreciate it at the time. I was sort of put off. Now, I'd love to have it back. The world turns...

A friend of mine who went to CMU by the name of Dan Root had similar taste in food to me at the time. The running joke was when I was indecisive, I waited for him to order and then "I'll have what he's having." His rule for pizza was "no fruit, no fish, no fungus". I don't do anchovies, still, but pineapples and mushrooms are fine. And as to food, well, when Abay opened, I was there on day 2, and copious times since. My rules for food now are that I'll pretty much go for anything which is "-ese", "-(i/e)an" or "-ish". Notable exception: "-eek" is also highly prized (as is "-ai").
